Lauren Laverne to broadcast from Sage Gateshead
Lauren Laverne will broadcast her BBC Radio 6 Music show live from Sage Gateshead next weekend as part of the Great Exhibition of the North.
Lauren’s show will feature Leeds DJ Nightmares on Wax, who will take charge of the tunes for regular Friday feature Desert Island Disco.
The BBC will be based at the event for the week, with a number of television programmes coming live from the Exhibition starting Friday 22nd June.
And this Saturday, 23 June, Mishal Husain will co-present BBC Radio 4 Today live from the event.
Beginning on Thursday 12 July at 9am, BBC Radio 4 celebrates the power of northern music, film, design and visual arts in a new four-part series, Great Exhibition of the North. With each episode presented by a different northern woman – Lauren Laverne, Antonia Quirke, Steph McGovern and Degna Stone – the series explores how the region is represented on the big screen and how a new generation of northern artists are cutting their own paths in the modern world.
