    Milam is currently the Executive Director of the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History and previously served as agency grant writer for the Danville Pittsylvania Community Services.  She is a graduate of Emory University and has lived in Danville since 1990 with her husband, Judge Joseph Milam. Kathy is a certified paralegal and certified in nonprofit management through Duke University Continuing Studies. She is active in several long-standing civic organizations, and is past president of the Danville Riverview Rotary, Garden Club of Danville and Danville Concert Association.

    Debra Dodson is retiring after serving 20 years as the Executive Director of The Community Foundation. Bob Wiles was the first director who helped to found the organization.

      JESSE BARTLEY MILAM

      Jesse Bartley Milam, (1884-1949), was a noted businessman and Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1941 to 1949.

      He was the son of William Guinn and Sarah Ellen (Couch) Milam, and a descendant of Bartlett Milam Jr., son of Bartlett Milam who died in 1822 in Laurens District, South Carolina. His mother was a Cherokee Indian, being a member of the Long Hair Clan, and her parents were Samuel M. and Nancy Ellen (Adair) Couch.
