Phil,
I have the same Drum type Glendinning Power Cable Master.
I had the same problem you are having 5 Years ago.
We completely released the Jaws that grasp the cable for wind or unwind. A
person needs to get in the basement and assist the cable out as another
person pulls it out of the drum. Once you have all the cable out, you need to
get the set out of it, buy reversing the set as much as possible. If it s
warm out it will help with the set relaxing faster.
ALLWAYS use a cloth to wipe off as you reel in.
I always extend the cable completely in a straight line, then grasp the
plug end and insert into shore power, even if i only need 5' . This is very
important to do, to eliminate the set occurring again. I have had no
problems with the cable since doing that.
While all the cable was out of the drum, i used a 5 " hole saw and cut 3
holes in the side wall of the drum, to assist getting the cable out of the
drum if needed in the future.
There may be other solutions to the problem, but, this worked for me.
